# Finding the promo pool

The Tastemaker Network (Promo Pool) is in your Promoly dash at mailer.promo.ly. Open it from the left menu, or go straight to [mailer.promo.ly/pool](https://mailer.promo.ly/pool) when you are signed in.

### What you will see

The page is a directory table (similar to Subscribers). Columns include Name (with avatar), Genres, Role, Location, Formats, Show or outlet, Labels, Profiles, a short reason chip, and an Add action. The Add action can show **Add**, **Adding**, **Retry**, **Added**, or **Unavailable**. You can open a profile drawer from a name or row without losing your place in the list. The same reason chip appears on the profile sheet.

Location and Formats on the row and sheet use the shared vocabulary: places as **City, Country** style labels (for example Birmingham, United Kingdom), and audio as **MP3**, **WAV**, **FLAC**, and/or **AIFF**.

### Defaults when you open /pool

When you open the directory, Promoly does not dump every approved tastemaker in newest-first order.

- **Added status** defaults to **Not added** (already-imported people stay under **Added** or **All tastemakers**).
- **Sort** defaults to **Suggested**. Suggested is a deterministic fit score from your release genres (plus a small role bump). Import popularity and follower count do not dominate.

A hint under the controls explains where those genres came from, for example **Ranking from your latest campaign.**, **Ranking from your first promo.**, **Ranking for this release.**, or **Pick genres to see who fits this release.** when none are set yet.

### For this release / What are you sending?

Use **For this release** (on a phone the genre control is labelled the same way). When no genres are selected yet, the control can show **What are you sending?**.

Genres can prefill from:

- this visit (for example a campaign you opened the pool from),
- your latest campaign,
- your first-promo draft, or
- genres you pick on the page.

You can clear or change those genres at any time. Changing them updates Suggested ranking and the reason chips.

### Sort tastemakers

Open **Sort tastemakers** to choose:

- **Suggested** (default)
- **Recently joined** (newest applications; the old default order, now an explicit choice)
- **Name A to Z**
- **Name Z to A**

The first-promo DJ step uses the same Suggested ranking payload as `/pool`, so the two pickers stay aligned.

### Reason chips

Each row and the profile sheet can show one reason chip, for example:

- **House and Tech House, not on your list yet** (overlapping genres, not imported yet)
- **No genre overlap**
- **Not on your list yet** (no release genres selected yet)
- **On your list** (already imported, when that applies)

### Filter the directory

Use the filters to narrow who you see:

- **Genre:** exact genre tokens from the profile (not a broad bucket, and not a match from biography text alone). The **For this release** genres above are the same kind of tokens and also drive Suggested ranking.
- **Location:** open **Filter by location** (search with **Search locations**). Choices are collapsed onto one **City, Country** style place each, so variants that used to look like different rows (for example Birmingham UK vs Birmingham, England) resolve to the same option. On a phone the control is labelled **Location**, with the note **Matches any selected city or country listed on a profile.**
- **Role**
- **Profile:** linked platforms (for example SoundCloud)
- **Audio format:** choose **MP3**, **WAV**, **FLAC**, or **AIFF**, or leave **All formats**. Profiles that list several formats (or say they take any) still match when you pick one of those four. **Any** is not itself a menu option.
- **Added status:** **All tastemakers**, **Not added**, or **Added**

Filters of different types combine with AND. Choices inside one filter type combine with OR.

On a phone, open **Filters** / **Filter tastemakers** for the same controls (including **For this release** and sort).

### Add contacts to your list

1. Find the people you want (Suggested ranking, search, and filters help).
2. Use **Add** on a row, or select several rows and bulk-add.
3. Outcomes: a row can show **Added** or **Unavailable**. Bulk results use counts such as added, **already added**, unavailable, and failed. If something failed, use **Retry** (aria: **Retry adding**).

When Added status is **Not added** and the list is empty, you may see that matching profiles are already on your list.

Contacts you add are saved to your **Tastemaker Network** group (the same group as left-nav Tastemaker Network / `/pool` imports). After a successful add, a toast may show **View imported contacts** when that group id is known. That opens Subscribers filtered to the group; otherwise it opens `/list`. For a single add, that link can appear when the contact was added or already exists. For bulk, it can appear when failed is 0 and unavailable is 0.

You need write access and an active subscription to add. Without that, Promoly uses the existing upgrade or permission path.

### Tip

Start from **Not added** + **Suggested**, set **For this release** to the genres you are sending, then skim reason chips before you add a large selection. You can move contacts from **Tastemaker Network** into other groups later.
