# Secret Link

Secret Link is a unique private link for one campaign and one person. Share it outside email while Promoly still tracks views, plays, downloads, and feedback against that contact.

If you need to send a promo over WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, X, SMS, or a DM, this is the way to do it.

## Create from the campaign list

1. Open [your campaigns](https://mailer.promo.ly/).
2. On the promo, click the link icon (**Generate a shareable secret link**). Promo campaigns with uploaded audio show this control.
3. The dialog is titled **Create secret link** and names the campaign.

Choose how to attach the person:

- **Select a contact.** Search contacts or enter an email (**Who is this link for?**).
- **Use a name only.** Enter a recipient name (for example, Dave from Atlantic). Promoly will create a contact so activity can be attributed to this person. Name-only contacts do not show a placeholder email.

4. Click **Create link**.

## After the link is created

A panel titled **Secret link ready** opens. Subtitle: **A private, tracked link for one person**.

- The attribution card shows **Goes to** (the person) and **Campaign**.
- Click the link to **Copy link only** if you only need the URL.
- Only send this link to that person. Activity is recorded against this contact.

## Message and share

The **Message** field is filled in for you. Edit it before you send.

Under **Share to**:

- WhatsApp
- Telegram
- Instagram
- X
- SMS
- Email
- Copy (copies the full message)
- More (on devices that offer a system share sheet)

Promoly does not send the message for you, pick the recipient's number, or record delivery.

On a computer, WhatsApp drops the greeting when a link is attached. Clicking copies the message and opens WhatsApp. Paste it after you pick the chat. On a phone, WhatsApp opens with the message filled in.

Instagram has no pre-filled compose. Promoly copies the message first, then opens Instagram DMs so you can paste it. If the copy fails, you stay in the panel.

## Preview without affecting stats

Click **Preview campaign**. That opens a tracking-safe preview of the campaign. It is not the recipient's secret link, so it does not count as their activity.

Do not open the secret link yourself to "check it". Visiting it records activity against the contact.

If preview is not available yet, save the campaign and try again.
